Collage—The Art of Transformation
Using collected papers, images, odds and ends, participants will explore collage using the five universal shapes (circle, square, triangle, equidistant cross, and spiral) to discover and understand one’s own individual current world view. We’ll integrate both disparate and complimentary small fragments into new compositions that incorporate the universal shapes. We’ll ask questions, learn about adhesives, transform materials and ideas into new forms, new stories, while enjoying the play of creativity. Suggested preparation: read the book Signs of Life by Angeles Arrien.
Winter Semester Wednesdays 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm (6 weeks) - January 17 - February 21, 2018
Collage: When 2 + 2 > 4
© Copyright Second River Studio Students explore the magic of collage using papers, collected odds and ends and photo images to solve the mysteries of composition and design. During our creative play, we’ll integrate both disparate and complimentary small fragments into personal compositions that incorporate geometric shapes, image pairings, strips, numbers, stamps and more. A key class component is learning about adhesives and how to use them. Discover the excitement of working from the heart, accessing intuition, and making personal imagery by creating fantasy worlds, probing social issues and transforming old items into new collage stories. Suggested preparation: collect papers/printed images that appeal to you and read The Collage Workbook, by Randel Plowman.
